A few years back my husband and I finally made the connection about holidays + feeling like crap. It was a cascade of bad eating beginning with Halloween...then my birthday (eating out) mid-November, followed by the one-two punch of Thanksgiving and his birthday (mid-December) and finished off with a giant sweet cherry on top at Christmas. We wised up and stopped celebrating birthdays with eating out. He never eats sugar after years of struggling with addiction and I went carnivore. No more winter blues, no more fat, and I feel measurably less stupid.
