Although I can longer get a job, because I am 54 and therefore irretrievably old, I still sometimes apply. Since the only places that would hire (someone like) me are a deafening churn of turnover and chaos, I immediately know if there is interest that the job is truly awful and they cannot find bodies. I guess it's a way to pass the time.
