As a former teacher, I've come to the conclusion that many students don't want to be students. It's the default mode, so they take the path of least resistance or in some cases because they have no choice due to parents, their age, community laws, etc. So a lot of them come to school with a chip already....whether online or not. I've looked into online teaching now and then but realized it would probably be even worse than in-person, partly because the prep is even more intensive.
