CIM works for most people. Are they not for everyone? No, the 20% of Americans who aren't currently overweight don't need them. Nor do the 15% of Americans who, genetically, couldn't get fat only diet. But most people will benefit from a low-carb diet. The simplest explanation is wrong, and 40 years of obesity research has shown that the standard advice to "eat less," "eat low fat," and "count calories" doesn't work. If it worked, we'd be thinner. It's not like millions of Americans (including millions of type 2 diabetics) aren't trying to lose weight by following low calories diets! Paleo and kete are popular because they work, and in the case of morbidly obese and super obese people, they work wonders. Decreasing calorie intake to lower insulin is all well and good theoretically but in the real world, it's called feeling semi-starved all the time, and it isn't sustainable. Calorie restriction is no way to live.
