Couldn't agree more & wrote a similar article on the topic. If you live rurally like I do, forget about going to Walmart - only 10 miles away - on a bike. I'd get run over by a pickup immeidately. We have a non-profit that does a cheap taxi service here, because we have a lot of older people who can't drive. That's a very goof business model: $10 a ride no matter where you want to go, and they take them both ways. Nowadays I drive the Toyota Corolla and not the SUV, unless I have to haul something.
