Dear Medium: I’m Moving to Substack

I’m lucky to get 150 views a day and I publish 3x a week

Dear Medium,

I’ve given it my all, and you and I aren’t good together anymore. This is a break-up letter.

I figure if I move to Substack I’ll get somewhere in the neighborhood of zero views to a single view a day for months, but realistically within 3 months I’ll have a few dozen views, and within a year I’ll be up to 150.

So it will take a year to get back to the point where you and I have landed, through no fault of my own by the way.

It’s time to fish or cut bait, and I guess I’m fishing in another pond. I built up a small buy loyal cadre of readers before, and I can do it again.

What’s more, you have been a capricious lover, and I’m laying bets Substack might treat me with more respect. Maybe Substack followers will not only view but read my newsletter, and I’ll make more than $75 a month?

If I had some way to improve things with you, I’d happily give it another shot — but I’m completely out of ideas. We are gonna need more than a “date night” to fix this relationship. I can’t figure out what you want, or how to pretzel myself into the right shape to get reads. I guess if the journey hadn’t been such a rollercoaster ride, I’d be…
