Excellent points. Beyond the Great Recessions I and II, a long economic and social decline has been unfolding since the 1970s in America. The Millenials seem to be taking the brunt of it. Being able to separate and move away from your parents to become self-supporting is the hallmark of adulthood so many of them can't achieve because, as you point out, the economic opportunities aren't there. The housing market has shifted too--becoming more of an investment scheme. Higher ed is perhaps the worst of it, as Millenials gamble on college only to lose because high paying jobs are in short supply.
