Gender roles aren't fixed. The evidence shows that people spent most of our time -- before modern machinery -- procuring food. It makes a lot more sense that women did a good share of hunting & fishing along with gathering because during most of human history finding food has been a top priority. To believe this was solely the job of males is absurd. Yet we can't seem to give up this myth that marginalizes women as less capable, relevant, strong, and independent.
