Good points. The thing about sugar is ... some people do have to give it up forever. It's a nice idea that a month away will resolve the problem, but the trouble with addiction is it's an on/off switch for many of us. A little sugar for many people (read: prediabetics and diabetics, ie millions) is like alcohol to alcohol to an alcoholic. You can't just sometimes drink. This brutal reality is too much for most people to accept because so many of our social, cultural, and family occasions revolve around food, especially sweets and processed carbs.
