Good question. One thing I do know is that discrimination doesn't stop when you retire. I live in a gated community with average age of 67 and people like being around other oldsters. I'm 59 and frequently called a "baby," which is supposed to be a joke but is kind of annoying. People take age very, very seriously and often seem to wear it as a badge of honor. I think my point is more around, if you leave a job when you are over 50, it's hard to get back in at the same level. Much truer over 55....
