Great headline, question, & article. I think it’s human nature to assert power when you feel you have some, which is why boys are taught to never hit a girl and girls are taught to not abuse their sexual power over men, in a perfect world. Many boys and girls don’t get taught this …or have some bad days …or get fed up with feeling powerless. I’ve had men scream at me at work and when a man intervened they calmed right down. The screaming was a prelude to threats, violence, power etc he couldn’t exercise over another man. I think this rotten behavior is less political than it is due to our wayward societal values about power, the free market, and the every man for yourself ethos in the US. Of course, sexism plays a huge role, ditto for racism, so all this abuse of authority is institutionalized.
