I did my tour of duty - 3 years as a full-time teacher. In low SES schools and "normal" ones. It got easier, but I never liked it. Your article captures how awful the job can be, although I'm sure for subs it's worse. I believe teaching should be a 3-year tour of duty and if you last you can pay off all your college loans and/or get an exception from actual combat.
