I don't understand why this case has never been fully brought to light, but the details are complex and I don't have legal training. Many people still treat it like some wacy "Satanic Panic" story even though there is loads of evidence of a cover-up. On one level, it's obvious why the story got buried--people in power didn't want it uncovered again, and there are statutes of limitation. But some of those powerful people are surely deceased by now, aren't they? I guess a big part of the problem is the lengths some of these Nebraska-based criminals were willing to go to (incuding murder) to shut people up.
