I eat an even more restrictive diet, carnivore. I've been careful about getting nutrients thru organ meats and bone marrow. The diet is very limited but I don't mind that as I like what I eat--however, the social part is annoying. I have to bring my own food everywhere and eating out isn't an option. Our church "soup and bread" Christmas gathering is coming up....guess I'll bring ox tail stew and, uh, no bread.

Why do I stick with it? Not because of weight loss (although I've lost all I need to) but because my autoimmune disease is on the mend.

I think keto is tough if it is only for weight loss. For many people, that's not enough of a motivation.

I will say that when it comes to cholesterol, the understanding of LDL cholesterol is very limited. High HDL & low triglycerides are more reliable markers of health than LDL or total cholesterol.
