I feel (and think) emotions aren't too different from thoughts in the sense that we can experience and observe them. We don't have to identify with them. We can witness our thoughts and listen to the melody and rhythm of our emotions. These are complementary practices. Thoughts and emotions are both fleeting and that is closer to the nature of reality than anything the traditional fixed, static shape of the self. It seems like ego is always trying to trick us into believing we are more than an experience in flux.
