I grew up Gen X and customer service happened. I watched it begin to disappear with Home Depot, then the phone trees took over, then our healthcare became a truly horrid torture device. Thankfully I've never had to go to jail or prison, where privatization price gouges the poor, luckless, and guilty alike. Of course, I try to find bargains on Amazon and half the time get a product that barely works and it isn't worth sending back. It's a bummer to have lived in a time when people answered the phone and helped you and now you've got some soulless, faceless web page with a phone number that leads to a robot who wastes your time as you try to find a person who speaks English to help you.
