I had Hashimoto's with a lot of symptoms and was overweight my entire life. I've eaten vegan, raw vegan, low-fat vegan, pesto-vegetarian, AIP (meat and most veg), and carnivore. Until I began eating a carnivore diet of 90% beef or lamb, I didn't get well. I lost all the weight I have carried my entire life (size 12 to size 4), I sleep well now, my mental health improved, and about another dozen problems cleared up. People with autoimmune diseases--which is hypothyroidism and what your doc may not have told you is once you have one autoimmune disease, your odds of getting another skyrocket--should avoid gluten, sugar, nightshades, and a host of other vegetables. Many should also avoid dairy products. Check out Mikaela Peterson's lion diet podcasts--this woman had more autoimmune diseases than you can count. (Thanks for clearing up you did just that :)
