I live in Arkansas. I just don't bring up politics or religion or engage in discussions about it. When confronted with racist remarks (rather common here) I say, "I don't endorse intolerance" and don't bother getting to know that person. The truth is--it isn't just a difference of opinion when someone in a MAGA hate is spewing hate.
