I live in rural Arkansas and we have two loud seasons and two quiet ones. In Autumn, hordes of crazed suburbanites pull out their infernal leafblowers. It's also hunting season, so the sound of shotguns occasionally pierces the forest. In summer, it's the lawnmowers. Americans are yard-obsessed and the property association has standards, so the grass must be trimmed and the weed whackers must whack. Thankfully, winter is quiet once all the deer have been shot. Spring only brings sounds of a dripping forest and chirping birds. I moved here because I got tired of all the noise in the city :)
