I moved three years ago, at 53. Then Covid hit, but in a way, it was a relief since I had an excuse to put off the impossible: making new friends. I tried the Unitarian Church. Meh. I tried Mah Jong. Snooze. Then I hit the jackpot with Community Theatre. I may add the hiking club because I have a theory that at the center of the unitarian hiking thespian Venn diagram my people dwell. I, too, go to bed early, don't drink, don't eat fun foods, and don't love socializing but I read an article that said having novel experiences and being vulnerable are the best way to make new friends--and as we age it's so hard to find those things. So maybe I'll follow my heart and join Search and Rescue instead of the hiking club. GREAT ARTICLE, Amy!
