I moved to Arkansas a few years ago and live in a gated community. It's very affordable here and the forest is lovely. Most of the community is conservative but there is a progressive subset. Sadly, when I drive through the back roads, down past the Walmart, I often see Trump signs. And it isn't just the "poor" but often nice spreads with trimmed lawns. I would prefer moving to another country but my husband has no desire to. I don't feel like I can afford to live in state where the politics aren't medieval.
