I normally don't comment twice, but the people pleasing syndrome also reminds me of why I hated teaching. There is so much blurring of boundaries in that job and the expectation (especially for women) is often you have to be a people-pleaser. I think this is one reason for astronomical burn out rates in the teaching profession.
