I recall most of us girls just didn't do it, and pretended we showered, or tried to avoid sweating in the first place. We had group showers, too, and crappy red-and-blue uniforms. Gym was right before lunch in 7th grade, and I remember arriving sweaty to the cafeteria, choosing BO over the horror of a shower. In high school, I mellowed and out and just hit the showers, but by then I'd been cowered by the system and already showered with most of the field hockey team.
