… discomfort, but what that discomfort wa… discomfort, but what that discomfort was about, or what emotion it was, was usually unknown to me. Being autistic, I was also out of sync with society as a whole, and early experiences of social punishment for that had taught me to suppress my own emotions. This added layer of social “normalization” can compound with alexithymia for a lot of people, making them even less aware of their emotional experience.

I think alexithymia is complicated, but compounded by my slower processing, too much data, and getting judged as "wrong" then shutting down emotionally. It starts really young.
