I think our age difference is a factor, but my husband offered insight. She has had a "wiser/older" role that I didn't pick up on consciously (and maybe neither did she) and now that she is in distress, it's not a dynamic she likes or is comfortable with. At the same time, my life and health have improved. It's like "the tables have turned" I think.
