I used to teach adjunct at one of these places, general courses for criminal justice majors. I needed teaching experience. It was a scummy enterprise called Brown-Mackie College. Some of the instructors were talented--heck, most of them knew their stuff. My students were quite a mixed bag, however. Several never should've been in college. The place preyed on desperate Corrections Officers trying to get a college degree so they could move up in the prison system. It was pretty obvious they let anyone in, and they paid adjunct faculty peanuts (just like everywhere else). Once I had 6 months of teaching experience, I switched to high school. That wasn't a great decision, either LOL.
