I was a 911 Dispatcher recently. It was pretty good, except I couldn't handle the shift work...going between graveyard and days. I mean, I just felt like crap all the time from not sleeping but at least they trained me! This was a local position. Most people with common sense and determination plus a tolerance for screaming strangers having the worst day of their lives could do this. It was actually interesting and made me like the police better. Only for people who don't mind bad sleep, though. I was lucky there was a p/t gig.
