I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s at 40 myself. At the time I had a doctor who didn’t give me much information other than my TSH was high. Now I know my T4 is fine but doesn’t convert to T3. I hear you on being irritated from the medical/nursing side of things. As a patient, I‘ve had a few good doctors and several so-so ones but typically there has been very little information regrading alternative therapies, especially food and stress reduction, to help mitigate Hashimoto’s symptoms. I’ve made a lot of progress with AIP diet and breathing normalization (which reduces anxiety). What progress I’ve made has been outside conventional medicine, but I’ve noticed that as “functional medicine” becomes more popular allopathic docs and other healthcare professionals are opening up to patient questions about diet, stress reduction, etc.
