I wrote about a similar topic recently, I, too, retired for the vague "tired" reason, then moved with my 15-year senior husband to a gated community where the average age is 67. I was 56 when I moved here and it began to dawn on me I was too young to retire--partly because it's hard to relate to the older crowd, plus everything is more expensive, plus housing, plus I miss the engagement of working. I'm trying to work part-time and not get tired again. My article is My Great American Retirement Fiasco. It's hard to write about because I'm privileged to be able to stop working full-time, but I feel like I'm living in a netherworld of not fitting in in either place--the hustle and bustle of the working life or the carefree pickleball existence of independent living!
