In the past few years, I've overcome anxiety, depression, and SAD (seasonal affective disorder) and the last condition happened after I moved from sunny, temperate winters in AZ to drizzling, cool, overcast winters in AR. Since light is supposed to be primary cause/association with SAD, this made zero sense to me. But I stopped eating sugar/flour AND when do we eat the most sugar? It begins around Halloween. If you are me, the next sugar binge is your birthday (mid-November), then Thanksgiving, then your husband's birthday (mid-December), the Christmas....After eliminating sugar completely my "mood problems" in winter disappeared. I will add that I now eat a meat-centric diet and depression and anxiety are gone, and I suspect this related strongly to gut flora.
