It's hard to relate to the decisions of evil people, because most of us aren't--which is why the brain, in a mist and fog of cognitive dissonance, searches for a rational reason. No doubt talking heads and thought leaders will write a columns and host podcasts to justify Jeff's nasty, selfish behavior as somehow being in someone else's (society's?) interest, but he's doing it as he's done all else for selfish reasons. (As the writer notes, there may be no fanfare because like many evil acts, it was done on the sly).
People like Jeff Bezos can never have enough. He's a little troll and one reason why we build government to support society rather than relying on the so-called benevolence of the private sector. No one can stop him, no government will. On top of all that, he looks just like very James Bond villain we've ever seen. At this point, my prayer is that he, and the other Worst Person on the Planet Mark Zuckerberg, will spontaneously combust.
