I've been trying to get thin my whole life. As a kid the only thing being chubby caused me, healthwise, was shame and confusion, arguably affecting my mental health. After literally decades of trying to solve the mystery as to why I'm inclined to be overweight, I've come to the conclusion that obesity is more a symptom of ill-health than anything else. I overeat when I feel tired, when my blood sugar fluctuates, and when depression/anxiety spike. My weight problem is a result of ill-health. Overeating leads to weight gain. I've been doing that since I was 7. Not a lot, just enough to be 145 instead of 120 most of my adult life. Now that I'm 120, and there's been a pandemic which cut-off my restaurant food supply AND I stuck with a diet for a full year...I finally have insight into which exact factors trigger me to overeat. I believe excess weight is a response and result of ill health, which then contributes to more ill health (later) as the weight piles on. Obesity is a symptom of an underlying imbalance, and one that can be very difficult to investigate and pinpoint.
