Maher is a Libertarian, as noted here. It's a juvenile philosophy similar to communism: sounds great in theory, doesn't work in real life. I agree with him on some issues such as atheism and not pouring money into a mission to Mars, but I stopped watching after I saw him get very nasty with a NYT guest, a female columnist, because she dared to interrupt him. I suspect millionaire Bill has a darker side.
