Moderation doesn't work for some of us, but I suspect the author can manage it. People whose metabolism becomes disordered later in life (through sugar and refined carbs) can mitigate obesity by cutting back. Most people are willing to be a bit overweight if they can still eat pizza and ice cream. I feel grateful I'm not one of those people, in some ways, because I don't diet for weight loss anymore. I eat a limited diet because otherwise my health starts swirling down the toilet.
