My first year after student teaching there was a group you had to attend once a week if you were a new teacher, ie less than 4 years. It was only my 3rd year but somehow I got out of going. I remember the joyful feeling when a first year teacher with several years of college-teaching asked how I'd done it. She looked slightly envious. Inside, it felt like my greatest moment as an educator. Hell is professional development meetings.
