My two cents on earning money on Medium: some genres are much more likely to go viral. I write in humor, poetry, health and true crime. Only in true crime have I made money. The ration is about $500 to $1 for each of the other genres. So--no difference really bettween humor vs. health vs. poetry (OK poetry is lower) yet BIG difference with true crime. I ascribe some of it to how many people read the pubs but much of it to the "extreme" nature of true crime stories--the 'best' ones are the worst crimes. Thankfully I don't write true crime for the money but I like the genre.
