Nearly stepped on a copperhead in my back yard last fall. Hard to see 'em in the leaves. My neighbor was having strange symptoms and got diagnosed with ... you won't believe this--leprosy. Doc said he probably caught it from an armadillo, from having an open cut and brushing against leaves or brush the armadillo had touched. Yikes.
