Onrush took his subjects off the worst diet, SAD. The SAD diet includes high amounts of refined carbs, industrial oils, and sugar. Almost any diet (even a low-fat vegetarian one) is better than SAD. But that isn't the whole story. There are many studies showing low carb/keto diets improve metabolic diseases much more dramatically than an Onrush diet improves heart disease.
