Payouts for SSI and SSDI are so behind the times. If you are lucky you end up with $1100 a month. How is anyone supposed to live on that? Then they take out money if you have a roommate who helps with the rent. The system is so broken (I used to work there) and desperately needs an overhaul and better funding to hire enough workers.
