Personal dietary optimization for many is the keto diet, because it doesn't drive appetite in the same way. A large body of scientific evidence shows low carb/high fat is more effective for weight loss than high-carb, low fat. What is comes down to is the drive to eat, i.e. hunger vs satiation. Some of us--most of us?--are simple carb-sensitive and one dried apricot (or whole apricot, in some cases) leads to overeating. In that sense, the research of GI makes sense...any carbs are going to drive eating more calories, from all sources.
