She made a parenting choice. It's not child abuse. Parents are allowed to shield their children from all sorts of things. It's not always the best choice, as parents who raise their children vegan or in highly restrictive religioius communities are two obvious examples. I don't agree with her choice, but it erodes the meaning of "child abuse" when such a parenting decision coined such.
