Six months ago I went from a gluten-free diet in which I regularly consumed cheese, meat, veg, fruit & Lots of OJ and 2-3 teaspoons of sugar daily to the AIP diet--which is gluten (and grain) free with no sugar, no juices, no dried fruit, etc.
In other words, all I removed from my diet was cheese, fruit juices and all forms of sugar.
Had my labs done 2 days ago: went from very high triglycerides to normal, and from high LDL cholesterol to near normal (HDL has always been high, stayed the same). I eat a lot of meat, fish and eggs so it''s obvious to me: sugar (specifically table sugar and fruit juices) is what was raising my triglycerides and LDL. The only other thing I quit eating was white potatoes (can't have nightshades) but I am certain the change is from consuming sugar daily to none at all. And--white flour acts a lot like sugar in the human body. Both are also addictive and create a cycle of compulsive overeating for most people.
Oh--and I''ve gone from 134 to 124 lbs.
