Thank you for this wondrful article about an incredibly important topic. Being pre-diabetic is no joke, it's a warning to change eating habits pronto. Yes we need protein to build muscle, but moreover we need fat to fuel our bodies and brains. Many fats, including natural fats from animals, have been demonized by the USDA and the dominant "healthy eating" paradigm in the US in the last 50 years. Healthy fat sources include olive oil, coconut oil and yes, saturated fats from red meats. They should be relished, no vilified.
