The explanation of getting fatter to maintain a bigger body makes a lot of sense in context of how I respond as soon as I begin to put weight on. I eat 95% of my calories from fat or protein and only occasionally eat carbs in the form of some milk or the rare cup of berries and I stay slim. I am 57 and until I bgan eating this way a year and 4 months ago, I was always overweight--from childhood. I was typically 140 to 145 lbs as an adult. I am 110 now. I would like to think it's all about the keto diet but I can't prove that--it could be all about the calories. There is no doubt I eat fewer calories because I don't feel hungry like I used to (nearly all the time, all day). My experience is that as soon as I add back in carbs for a day, let's say a yam plus some berries, I am hungrier the next day. I quickly want to go from 2 meals to 3 meals a day. Eating carbohydrates makes me hungrier. I wish that weren't true, but experience has taught me it is. Since I don't like thinking about being hungry all the time and my clothes currently fit, I stay away from carbs.
