The hardest part of freelancing is setting boundaries, and dealing with lulls versus flares. Having a regular schedule, whilst boring at times, is healthier for many, if not all, of us. I recently took a low-paying freelance job mainly because it requires a steady 10 hours a week with few surprises (plus the client is clearly sane). A big project with tight deadlines and a steep learning curve feels too much like "drama" and pulls some of to the edge of instability (and beyond).
