The only choice we have is what to worship? Isn't that the same as what we make sacred, then are ready to kill and die for? The problem with god is exactly this, it turns people's territorial instinct into overdrive. The whole point of Christianity was to love everyone--and how many Christians do you see accomplishing this? In fact, we don't need worship. We need humility born out of a connection with reality: our place as hairless apes in a world we are quickly destroying through our own hubris and "worship" of money, cars, guns, fame, etc.
