The Superwoman myth seems to be the price we pay for being allowed to work, own property, and be kinda in charge of our lives. It's a terrible thing, a real backlash against feminism. We end up having a job, plus being a mom, plus doing housework--and of course, can't hack it because it's impossible. Then we blame ourselves. It's possible to opt out, but then if feels like failure, leading to ... more self-blame.
