There are SO MANY myths about welfare and entitlement programs. Food stamps is one of the few programs that happens fairly quickly. Many critical services such as housing and medical (disability) are extremely slow to get and in some cases, you don't get them--ever. People also think "entitlement" is a dirty word when in fact it means getting money you've already paid into the system that you are entitled to!
