There is a false narrative, to be sure, that just getting a degree sets you on the right path. On the other hand, it can be frustrating to have the degree which qualifies you for jobs that are simply rare ... at the level of master's the trick does seem to be inventing and reinventing yourself. I love the emphasis on being active, not passive and being creative, not reactive!
