This has nothing to do with political leanings. I'm as liberal as they come and I wish to God kids would get sorted out in school based on their abilities rather than their interests. I used to teach 9th graders and I sat through a meeting once with a kid and his mom and a bunch of teachers in which they asked him what he wanted to do and he said, "Be a pro football player." He was 14 years old and had never played football, was five foot nothing, and no one said, "Bad idea kid." No one had any good advice because our culture is so screwed up we let kids "figure it out" long past the date when it's obvious what they suck at. No, we are not honest with kids.
